Impact of consolidation of banks on bank job vacancies .

Impact of consolidation of banks on bank job vacancies .

To understand this let us take a real case :

In 1993 NBI was merged into PNB.

It lead to surplus staff in bank, hence all promotions/new joining was put on hold till 1997. That means no promotion/ new jobs for FOUR years.

As cultural difference was there in two banks many litigation s in court of law, and employees of both banks suffered.

Bank could not gain in terms of business.

Number of branches were closed down.

Seniority of NBI reduced by half.

If we go by past experience than consolidation will shrink jobs/ promotions in banking.

Lower vacancies would mean tougher competition.

so bad time is ahead for unemployed youth.
